Non-Surgical Weight Loss Program Overview

It wasn’t long before family members and friends of my surgical weight loss patients began asking my advice regarding their own weight issues and many of these patients did not fall into the >30 BMI category, and thus did not qualify for surgical intervention. I created a few individualized programs that met with success and word got around.

For the last 3-4 years I have offered both medical and surgical weight loss solutions for patients who desire to lose from 10-300 lbs. I have over 1500 procedures in my experience and over 500 patients that have chosen non-surgical options.

Obesity is a chronic disease which affects millions of Americans. Being overweight can lead to a multitude of other chronic, sometimes life threatening conditions, such as high blood pressure, diabetes, heart disease, stroke, and certain cancers. Obesity is the second leading cause of preventable death. Even just a few pounds of weight loss can have a significant positive impact on these health risks.

The National Institute of Health (NIH) has clearly presented guidelines as to how people should try to lose weight:

“See a medical provider if you are

  • trying to lose more than 15-20 lbs
  • have other health problems
  • are taking any medications
  •  plan to take medication to lose weight”

Weight Loss Center of Arkansas has a comprehensive, medically supervised weight loss program, designed for individuals who desire to lose weight. Our program includes the use of safe, effective medications when indicated, nutritional and exercise counseling, and psychological support on an individual basis. This combined with provider monitoring on a monthly basis increases the success rate for each individual.

A complete medical work-up can help determine other medical causes for weight gain such as hormone imbalances or glandular disorders.
